Please submit a proposal through the online Proposal Routing System if one of the following applies to you:
- Need to submit a proposal to a Federal, State, Industry, or other external entity
- Need to submit pre-proposals or letters of intent
- Have received an industry award that needs a contract and account number
- Have received other external funding directly and need an account number
Routing Proposals, Pre-proposals, Notices/Letters of Intent
Please follow these steps:
1. Initiate Budget Review within your unit:
Step 1: Faculty member reviews proposal guidelines and drafts project summary, budget, and budget justification. Here you can find the current budget template: Proposal Budget Template. If the proposal budget period extends beyond three years, please use the five-year budget template.

Step 2: Faculty member discusses proposal with College Research Director.
Step 3: Faculty member obtains approval of Unit Head and/or College Dean for any University match needed.
2. Initiate routing for internal approvals:
The Proposal Routing Form must be completed prior to proposal submission to an external entity. The form is routed for appropriate approvals along with a copy of the funding agency’s guidelines. The routing is initiated by completing the Proposal Routing Form and uploading the required attachments.

3. Confirm/obtain access to submission portals:
If the proposal is to be submitted electronically through a submission portal (e.g., grants.gov, LOGAN, PAMS, research.gov), the PI must have the required access for uploading proposal components. Please confirm or secure the necessary access well in advance of the submission deadline. Contact OSP at BHillHer@LATech.edu for assistance.
4. Request Contract or Other Forms
