UNIVERSITY RESEARCH VISION STATEMENT: 'The Office of University Research is committed to creating and maintaining an atmosphere of service for all university staff that will foster the growth of research and scholarly activities at Louisiana Tech University.'
In keeping with our vision statement, the Office of University Research offers in-house workshops, including but not limited to, the below list (dates/times/locations are in red). In addition to regular scheduling, these workshops can be conducted at the convenience of the college, department, or individuals desiring a one-on-one training session. SECTION I - Preparing/Submitting Proposals:
- LaTech Proposal Process: Guidelines on how to get your proposal approved and submitted at Louisiana Tech.
- Grants.gov: For new or experienced grant writers. Learn how to search, download applications, and submit proposals through Grants.gov. This is a 'hands-on' workshop conducted in the CITDL lab/Prescott Library. E-mail bfree@latech.edu to register (required).
- Opportunities Through the Board of Regents Support Fund (Overview): Learn about the Board of Regents' highly competitive Enhancement, Graduate Fellows, Research & Development programs, important deadlines (Fall) and more. E-mail bfree@latech.edu to register (required).Segmented workshops available for the BoR Support Fund:RCS/ITRS - Research Competitiveness and Industrial Ties Research Subprograms. Enhancement Subprogram - For submission of Traditional and Undergraduate Enhancement Proposals.Graduate Fellows - Two subprograms are available: Traditional Graduate Fellows and Graduate Fellowships for Teachers. For more information on the Board of Regents Support Subprograms, go to http://laregents.org/www2/index.htm. - Life in the Fastlane System (NSF): Learn to create and submit proposals to the National Science Foundation (NSF) for federally funded research projects.
- ULS/Service Learning Grants: State sponsored grants designed to enhance students' learning experiences with community efforts, including rebuilding after hurricane devastation. Requests for Proposals are usually published late summer/early fall. E-mail bfree@latech.edu to register.

SECTION III - Finding Funding Opportunities:
- Finding Grant Funds: Learn about the different funding agencies available and register to receive scheduled e-mails with current funding opportunities at NSF, Grants.gov, Louisiana Board of Regents, etc., websites. - LASMARTS/LAGENIUS: An information database for funding opportunities hosted by InfoEd and the State of Louisiana. Set up a professional profile to collaborate and network with other researchers in your field as well as find current funding opportunities using the electronic list-serv option.
