EPSCoR FUNDING
The Board of Regents co-sponsors several funding opportunities under EPSCoR (Experimental Programs to Stimulate Competitive Research). Louisiana is currently eligible for EPSCoR designation within NSF, NIH, NASA, DoEnergy, EPA. In addition to the RFP's below, EPSCoR may be a source of matching funds on a federal grant. PFUND: Pilot Funding for New Research
Who? - Tenure and non tenure track faculty
Why? - Enhance research focus, explore new ideas, keep pace with cutting edge techniques
What? - Up to 10,000 per year (support for students, travel, equipment, supplies) NO faculty salary or indirect costs allowed
When? - Start date would be Jan. 1.
How? - Simple five page narrative, references, plus cover page, summary, budget/justification form, biosketch, letters of support ALL submitted electronically
LINKS: Links with Industry, Research Centers, and National Labs
Due 3:30 p.m. 30 days before travel
Who? - Tenure and non tenure track faculty may apply
Why? - Establish partnerships and alliances between La. researchers and collaborators (federal, labs, industry)
What? - Up to $500 per week. (max of $6,000) Additional $1000 in transportation cost will be provided. Minimum of 2 weeks visit up to 12 weeks. Travel may also include graduate student or post-doctoral researcher with faculty. Internal match is expected. Indirect costs not allowed. Money does flow through Tech (unlike the TGEF reimbursement money)

TGEF: Travel Grants for Emerging Faculty
$750-$1000 travel funds reimbursed to faculty for major invited presentation/abstract at conference or for travel to meeting with program officer at federal agency. Applications accepted year-round.
LEEP: Louisiana Expertise Exchange Program
$2,000 travel award to encourage collaboration and exhange of knowledge between Louisiana universities and national research labls or similiar industry research facility. Applications accepted year-round.
DART: Developing Aerospace Research Technology
$25-35K for beginning projects related to space science.
Planning Grants:
Board of Regents offers two planning grants:
- Major center planning grant: preliminary grants for major initiatives
- Grant Writing: $7,500 available for support of a grant writing seminar for faculty/staff.
SoS: Speaking of Science
Small stipends provided to University Researchers to travel to K-12 schools for presentations.
