Research in Experimental Particle Physics: D0
Description : This research project is primarily devoted to the DØ experiment at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Over the next three years, the Louisiana Tech experimental particle physics group will have several important responsibilities on the DØ experiment: commissioning and maintenance of the ICD subdetector, oversight of the Offline Calorimeter software, development and testing of Level 3 triggering software, the development of offline missing Et reconstruction and analysis code, and continued physics analysis centered on SUSY searches and electroweak studies. Participation in the commissioning, data taking, and data analysis of the DØ experiment during the current run of the Tevatron will be the main focus of the high energy physics effort at Louisiana Tech over the next three years. Run II of the Tevatron offers the promise of two to three fb-1 of data, at the highest center of mass energy available, during the period of this project. As can be seen, this project provides unique opportunities in the search for new particle states and precise measurements of the Standard Model.
