Soil and Environmental Science Teaching Laboratory Equipment Enhancement

Description :  The challenges imposed by increasingly stringent environmental regulations require that students be better prepared to manage our natural resources wisely. This project addresses that challenge by updating the laboratory exercises taught in the Soil Science Teaching Laboratory (SSTL) to incorporate topics addressing soil and water quality. The laboratory, which is operated by the Department of Agricultural Sciences and School of Forestry at Louisiana Tech University, originally was established to teach the basics of soil science. The enhanced laboratory, renamed the Soil and Environmental Science Teaching Laboratory (SESTL), will be capable of assessing a variety of important soil and water parameters, such as aquatic oxygen demand and supply of available nutrients present in soil.
