Anesthetic Depth Monitor Senior Design Formal Project Proposal

Description :  The overall objective of the proposed study is a proof of concept that non-linear dynamic analysis techniques applied to serial long-term EEG recordings in rodents and people who have suffered from severe TBI can predict the development of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE) in specific individuals. Specific objectives designed to achieve this overall objective are: Objective 1: Determination of the probability of entrainment and resetting of brain dynamics in a rat model of PTE from continuous long-term EEG recordings over 12 weeks after TBI. Objective 2: Determination of the probability of entrainment and resetting of brain dynamics in 30 individuals who have suffered penetrating TBI from serial (at admission, 1 wk, 2 wks, and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 12 months) long-term (4 hr) EEG recordings.
