Technology-Rich Transportation Engineering Projects

Description :

The investigators’ objective for this project is generating an increased interest in STEM fields, particularly transportation engineering, among high school students and college students. Through collaborations with Prairie View A&M University, the proposed objective is to implement an outreach effort introducing modern transportation projects. High school and university educators in the Southern Plains Transportation Center region will be invited to participate in a three day workshop, where they will be trained to implement transportation engineering concepts and projects to their students. In order to attract and build a more diverse transportation workforce, this project may also direct efforts towards underrepresented groups and minorities, as well as undecided college students. Through the creation of this outreach initiative, the investigators also aim to address the skilled workforce shortage in the U.S.
