Project Conserve the Wetlands

Description :

The objective of the investigators of this research is to engage students and teachers in an effort to promote the importance of wetland function and the need for wetland conservation. The investigators propose to raise student awareness through developing wetland-based content and hands-on lessons aligned with state content standards. In addition, the investigators aim to target professional development for educators by gathering thirty-one pre-service and in-service teachers at a public park with wetland access in order to engage them in hands-on lessons relevant to state standards. The web resource, Project Noah, will also be introduced as a means of increasing parental and community involvement in environmental science. By introducing teachers and students to the importance of wetlands, increased awareness on the need for conservation may be achieved.
