Novel Methods for Microarray Gene Expression Data Mining for Translational Bioinformatics

Description :  

The researchers of this project seek to improve methods of analyzing gene expression data through the development of novel data mining methods in the form of an interactive open source tool-kit. Improving data mining techniques could prove vital for clinicians utilizing genetic information to approach treatment options. Objectives for the researchers collaborating at Louisiana Tech and LSU Health Science Center-New Orleans include developing algorithmic techniques employing isomorphic discovery, incorporating genetic data clustering and genotypic association through phenotypic profiling, dimensionality reduction and other features on an expression test-bed. The proposed data mining method may allow for the connection of uncharacterized genetic products with biochemical functions, which is a major problem in biomedical research.
