Solving Two and Three Dimensional Interface Problems with Non-Body-Fitted Grids
In an effort to resolve elliptic and elasticity interface problems, the investigators of this project aim to develop a second order accurate non-traditional finite element method for solving problems in two and three dimensions. This can be accomplished through the decomposition of the solutions into a singular part, which can capture the interface conditions, and a regular part, which is in an appropriate whole domain space. When coupled together, the parts can be solved through standard finite element formulation, which could allow for many applications in disciplines requiring two and three dimensional interface technology.
