Environmental Effects on Bacillus firmus Spore Growth

Description :  

Bacillus firmus is a non-pathogenic bacteria species capable of endospore formation and known for preventing nematode growth through chemical release. The investigators of this research seek to partner with Syngenta Corporation in the development of a seed coating based on the spore coat of B. firmus in an effort to combat nematode growth in crops. By examining spore coated seed growth under varying pH, temperature, salinity and metal concentrations, optimum growth conditions for B.firmus may be determined for spore formation.
