In-Vivo Time Course Study of Adult Neurogenesis and Adult Neural Stem Cell Transformation to Tumor Cells in the Mouse Subventricular Zone Using Implanted Micro-Lenses and Multiphoton Microscopy

Description :  

In an effort to combat the high number of brain injuries, brain tumors and neurodegenerative diseases in human populations, the researcher of this project seeks to contribute to researching the therapeutic efforts of treating and managing these health issues. By utilizing implantable gradient index lens systems and breeding mice colonies genetically modified to produce brain tumors, the investigator purposes to study changes in subventricular zone neural stem cells. Utilizing this implantable lens may allow for the production of high resolution images over time using multiphoton microscopy, leading to a greater understanding of brain injuries, neurogenesis, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
