Catalyst Development for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

Description :  It is the goal of this project to continue the process of developing catalysts used in the Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis that can be utilized on a commercial scale. In the development of the catalysts, the major focus will be on scaling up the catalyst from laboratory scale to pilot scale. This will be accomplished in two ways: (1) analytical analysis and (2) operational analysis. Analytical analysis will include BET surface area analysis, TPD examination, and SEM analysis. Operational analysis will examine variables including temperature, pressure, conversion on catalyst performance, and space velocity pertaining to product distribution and catalyst lifetime. In order to increase production, efforts will focus on ultimate catalyst deposition and catalyst substrate preparation. In conjunction with scale up work, catalyst deposition will be addressed through the inclusion of other catalytic materials that could yield greater results.
