Correction of Mutations Using Tailor-made Recombinases

Description :  The goal of this research is to develop efficient genome manipulation approach based on tailor-made site-specific recombinases.  The approach will be based on the ability of site-specific recombinases to replace DNA fragments provided these fragments are flanked by the recombination targets for these recombinases.  By replacing defective DNA with mutation-free DNA, we can correct a mutation that causes sickle cell disease in cultured human cells SC-1.
