Computationally Driven Rural Health Promotion & Disease Prevention Program

Description :  the goal of the proposed project is twofold: 1) to access a multidisciplinary community-based intervention to combat deabetes mellitus and related chronic diseases in Region 7 of Northwest Louisiana by forming coalitions with schools, local faith-based organizations, and the general public in cooperation with project supporters and 2) to design and develop a computational framework comprising of software tools by developing a knowledge driven approach for data acquisition, in the fromat and dimendionality most suitable for novel data mining.  The implementation of these goals will facilitate care delivery to patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases which is a high potential cost to public healthcare in the state of Louisiana.  This project aims to build upon the Better Health for Delta Project directed by Dr. Larry Proctor and establish a novel approach for data acquisition by implementation of techniques and technologies of data miming and statistics.  Through this project, investigators look to address the healthcare needs for an undeserved comomunity in Bienville parish of Northwest Louisiana.
