NASTT Sewer Laterals Training Module
Description : In response to the Request for Proposals issued by the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) Education Committee, a proposal has been submitted by the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) of Louisiana Tech University with the support and input of its Industry Advisory Board and the collaboration with Peter Larsen of Hazen and Sawyer, a consultant with significant experience in sewer lateral renovation. The key personnel of the proposing team have recently completed a 2-year, $300,000 plus, research effort for the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) specifically targeted at the issue of cost effective rehabilitation of sewer laterals. The draft final report has been submitted to WERF and contains more than 400 pages with approximately 170 tables and 350 figures containing a wealth of specific data on sewer laterals and inspection and renovation techniques. It also includes a questionnaire survey responded to by 58 municipalities and oversight by 12 public works, government and industry personnel. This proposal outlines a prospective course to be used as a sewer laterals training module, key personnel recommended and an approach to the work for the course development, based on the experience of the prospers and the information collected through the WERF project. However, the team is very open to guidance from NASTT as to the content to be emphasized in the NASTT training module. The team will use its experience and contacts developed through the WERF project, but the training module and reference materials will be developed specifically for NASTT and graphics will be assembled with the appropriate copyright lease.
