Superior Graduate Fellows in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology
Description : In June 2003, the Board of Regents (BoR) approved a new, interdisciplinary Master of Science (MS) degree in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology (MSNT) to be offered at Louisiana Tech University. This program was praised by the team of external evaluators as being "one of, if not the, first graduate program in the emerging area of nanotechnology in the country." This request is for two Graduate Fellowships in this new and innovative degree program. This proposal is being submitted by the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) on behalf of this interdisciplinary degree program. The program also has participation from biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, and physics. The Master of Science in MSNT formalizes the already strong and flourishing collaboration between the SBS and the College of Engineering and Science. With the growth of this new degree program, additional momentum and visibility will come to the growing research and education enterprise that is Louisiana Tech University. The recruitment of two superior graduate students through this proposal will further elevate the status of the program and lay the foundation for achieving national and international eminence.
