Dissemination of funding:

Maintain a resource library of agencies, foundations, and industries that fund research in various areas, and serve as a clearinghouse for funding search sites.

Program guidelines:

Currently working on developing templates for general forms requested from agencies such as the USDA, DHHS, NIH. etc. These templates will include standard Louisiana Tech information and will be available electronically.

College Research Directors:

Work with RD’s in each college to encourage and assist faculty in developing research ideas, offer training for college PI’s on requested needs, and forward funding opportunities for distribution in colleges.

Proposal Preparation:

Consultation and assistance in the preparation of proposals, from proofreading to providing campus information needed to complete application.

College Research Directors:

Work with RD’s in each college to encourage and assist faculty in developing research ideas, offer training for college PI’s on requested needs, and forward funding opportunities for distribution in colleges.

Safety Committees:

Coordinate necessary project reviews with appropriate safety committees, including the Human Use Committee, the DNA/Biohazards Committee, and the Animal Welfare Committee.

Budget Preparation:

Prepare consultation and assistance in all phases of proposal budget design, preparation, and presentation.

Provide assistance in completing all required budget forms and assurances.

University Authorization:

Arrange for the necessary University reviews of proposals, including the President, Vice-President for Financial Services, Dean of Graduate School and Research, Purchasing Director, etc.

Electronic Submission:

Serve as the administrator for all electronic submissions, annual/final reports for BoR, NSF, and other agencies.

Proposal Transmittal:

Provide a letter of transmittal authorizing the proposal and giving the University’s endorsement.

Arrange for emergency delivery of proposals if time constraints are a problem.

Project Management:

Provide assistance to project directors to help manage projects.

Help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Help project directors comply with the many federal and state laws and regulations and University Policies.

Project Purchases:

Assist project directors with personnel and purchase requests.

Check for the allowability of project expenditures in terms of the scope of work.

Find solutions to the special purchasing problems of funded projects.

Budget Changes:

Handle all changes in project budgets.

Arrange changes in budget allocations with the Comptroller and, if necessary, seek approval from the funding agency.

Project Reporting:

Prepare all fiscal reports for funded projects.

Handle the formal submission of all required fiscal and technical reports.

Project Termination:

Provide comprehensive services in the termination of funded projects.

Assist the project director in closing out the account.

Prepare the final billing and fiscal report.

Submit the final technical and fiscal reports to the funding agency and handle any termination problems.

Educational Publications/Training:

Create educational material on all aspects of grant administration.

Offer training at department, college, and university-levels.

Research Council:

Serve as members of the Research Council promoting campus-wide research efforts.

Seed Grants:

Make available Summer grants for the beginning stages of grant research.
